
Having set Data and Analytics teams from scratch several times, I had the opportunity to hire and shape teams.
Below are few things that I made sure to consider:
- That I am not hiring another me. This may happen subconsciously so be aware of it as you want more than your skills. A strong team is a diverse team.
- Having people in the team who can cover my weaknesses and my strengths cover their weaknesses.
- Creating a team that challenges me and can create an environment of growth for everyone in the team including myself.
- Hiring for culture fit and values
- Not hiring just for technicality, have a team whose is hungry to learn and improve.
