One of the biggest risks I took in life was shifting careers.

For those of you who have recently followed me here, I am a qualified management accountant by trade but have always worked in data analysis in different multinational organisations.

Doing my Alliance Manchester Business School MBA, I decided to drop subjects and do a full dissertation on how organisations should set their data strategy to scale analytics. It was a risk to move from finance and analysis to data strategy, analytics and future technologies. My supervisor was the data and analytics expert Reza Salehnejad, he made sure I understood what I was researching, challenged me and provided all the right support.

After that I took several data and analytics roles which supported me with linking theory to applying practice. I also rolled-up my sleeve and started learning python, SQL and other data visualisation tools. Did deep core data and analytics on big scale projects.

Now I am proud to work in data strategy, analytics and future technologies for the industry leader Unilever and do leading research in Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge.

It all started with taking a risk and starting a full time MBA.

What I have learned is to find your passion and follow it. Doors will open, you will find resources and people will support you.

Help others on their journey as well, we are all learning from each other whether pesonal or technical skills. Share knowledge, grow and support others to grow 🙌🏼
