Data strategy has several pillars, one of them is understanding future technologies and knowing your roadmap for each. It is a topic I am so passionate about and spoke as a University of Cambridge academic and industry practitioner in several conferences last year.
So, what are digital twins?
A Digital Twin (DT) is a virtual model that represents a physical object, process, or service. It supports understanding how to optimise the object across its whole lifecycle as well as other decisions. Think about it as simulation.
It links real-time and historical data to make sense of the past and the present, allowing the simulation and prediction of failures.
