Data Strategy

Do you have a data and analytics skills roadmap in your organisation data strategy?

Data skills is still a challenge for many organisations. The past few weeks I had discussions with several leaders about how difficult it is to find the right candidate. Many times this is because of the organisation industry expertise needed.

A couple of suggestions I have seen work really well:

  1. Look internally and upskill: Have a plan and start finding great data and analytics potentials within the organisations.
  2. Maintain your champions: Your upskilled employees are expensive, make sure to have a plan to develop them and keep them.
  3. External hires: Find external hires who can complement your internal upskilled resources so they both grow.
  4. Partners: Work with your vendors so they are part of this skills roadmap
  5. Educational institutes: Work with universities and understand best practices from them as well. Shameless plug to my amazing research group in University of Cambridge, shout out if you want an introduction.

A data and analytics skills roadmap is very important for organisations. Even with what is going on in the tech industry, it is still challenging to find the right candidate.

What is your organisation doing to close the gap? Share your thoughts in the comments and lets all exchange experience.
