A question I got asked by a gentleman I mentor this week and thought to share my thoughts with everyone here. “Owning your career” means taking responsibility for the direction and progress of your professional life.
This can include setting goals, identifying opportunities for growth and development as well as actively working to achieve them. It also involves taking initiative and being proactive in seeking out new challenges and opportunities, rather than waiting for them to come to you (inside your organisation and outside).
Taking ownership of your career can help you advance more quickly and achieve greater satisfaction in your work.
